The name Floreat comes from the Latin word for 'flourish' or 'prosper', and it perfectly describes the environment and residents of this swanky, politically conservative suburb. Home to established families and mature couples, this ‘burb is the gateway to Perth’s exclusive western suburbs. The lush green surroundings and exceptionally maintained streets give the suburb the upscale style it’s renowned for. Add in the café strip, shopping scene, and a stunning nearby beach and you have a total winner.

You’ll need to have a bit of money to own property in Floreat. The houses are mostly well-kept classics from the 60s and 70s, with a fair amount of grand-palace-type abodes. Floreat is the type of place you’d want your kids to grow up in. There are good primary and high schools in the area and lots of space for them to run around, as well as plenty of clubs and organisations to be a part of.

Floreat is also perfect for ‘ladies who lunch’ types. If you move here, and have time on your hands, you can fill your days with trips to the Forum to meet up with your gal pals for a spot of shopping. Or take a table at the trendy new The Boulevard to tantalise your taste buds. If you prefer the beach, City Beach is nearby and is one of the best boasting a prestigious Surf Life Saving Club.

There are plenty of sporting facilities available, such as Bold Park Aquatic Centre, Wembley Golf course, the headquarters of Rugby WA, Floreat Oval and Perry Lakes Stadium which is being redeveloped. If you prefer a more casual exercise regime, Perry Lakes Reserve and Bold Park provide a lovely setting for any workout.
