If this suburb were a shoe, it would be an Aquila, Kenneth Cole and running shoe

South Brisbane's rise in popularity has been a gradual process. But the last decade or so have really seen big changes. This suburb is extremely popular with young people and professionals because it is right on the Brisbane River, connected to Brisbane's city centre by two bridges, is well serviced by the ferries, has two train stations (South Brisbane and South Bank), the very popular South Bank Parklands, and some great cafes and restaurants.

South Bank: The art gallery, museum and library are all huge, impressive buildings that draw tourists by the tens of thousands.

There is also a beach here popular with little kids, teens and tourists. It is a man made beach but comes with a lagoon, sand, life savers and city views. The beach is part of the South Bank Parklands complex which has a whimsical arbor walk, a big ferris wheel, a huge movie screen, and several different markets. The parklands are the main gathering spot for Brisbane locals for big events, including fireworks. There's even a big ferris wheel here.

South Brisbane and South Bank have some Brisbane's most popular cafes, a great pub, a good cinema, restaurants, upmarket shops, and a market on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.
