Elizabeth Bay

    Elizabeth Bay, Sydney (east)

Rent: rents here are largely high

Vibe: Relaxed, stylish

Location: Harbour, Inner city, Near Uni of Sydney/UTS

Elizabeth Bay is a magnet for the creative types with decent pay packets who like the cosmopolitan nature of the suburb, and its proximity to the city centre. It has a very high concentration of people living in a small space and tends to attract people with a more progressive bent towards life. The cafe scene here is small, but neighbouring Potts Point is a very short walk away and offers a plethora of funky cafes and restaurants.

Elizabeth Bay is walking distance from the city (2.5km), the harbour, Opera House, Botanic Gardens, Potts Point and several other vibrant suburbs in Sydney’s east. In the last few years the suburb has gone through a gentrification process. Housing is overwhelmingly in apartment blocks, many of which were built in the 1920's - 1940's.  As an added bonus, most of the streets are tree lined, and many apartments offer great water views.

Depending on where you live in Elizabeth Bay, running into homeless people asking for money may, or may not, be a problem. The café scene here is small. Kings Cross with its strip clubs and seedy side is very close by. (More info below and to your left <<<)
