Rose Bay

    Rose Bay, Sydney (east)

Vibe: Prepy

Location: Beach, Harbour

Rent: 2 br apartment: $320 - $850 pw

Rose Bay is another exclusive suburb in Sydney’s fashionable east. Large period or architect designed homes on large properties in tree lined streets, make Rose Bay one of the prettiest and most sought after suburbs. This place definitely has a private school feel about it. It has stunning harbour views, and a vibrant village feel on weekends. (More information below...)

Moving from Sydney to Melbourne 2008/04/02 06:16 Karma: 0
Hi

I am moving from Syd to Melb for work in a couple of weeks. Not sure of areas to live, thinking east or south east. or port melbourne area. Number one concern is safety as i am moving by myself. Wondering what peoples thoughts are on suburbs such as Prahan, South Yarra, Armadale, St Kilda...

Any info would be great!

Thanks. Cas.

HI Cassie,

Melbourne is very different from Sydney.

Some areas which you may find interesting will be Carlton, North Carlton, North Fitzroy, South Yarra, Prahran, Richmond, South Melbourne, St Kilda. Port Melbourne is great but a bit windy.

I'd avoid Armadale because it's a bit further out and is popular with families.

All of the above areas are safe. Melbourne in general is a very safe area.

You could try Richmond. It's on the city side of the Yarra River. It's a big suburb with plenty going on. Toorak is good for singles who want to feel safe but it can also be a bit stuffy. I live in Kensington and love it. It's a great place for singles an d it has a good community feel.
