Rose Bay

    Rose Bay, Sydney (east)

Vibe: Prepy

Location: Beach, Harbour

Rent: 2 br apartment: $320 - $850 pw

Rose Bay is another exclusive suburb in Sydney’s fashionable east. Large period or architect designed homes on large properties in tree lined streets, make Rose Bay one of the prettiest and most sought after suburbs. This place definitely has a private school feel about it. It has stunning harbour views, and a vibrant village feel on weekends. (More information below...)

Moving to Sydney from UK 2008/06/21 16:16 Karma: 0
Hi all,

I am moving to Sydney with my girlfriend towards the end of August. I am trying to look for places to rent in Sydney and make decisions about buying a car etc.

We will be looking to rent for a while and then choose somewhere to buy once we're settled. My company is setting up an office in northern Sydney so I would probably look to be close to work. I have been recommended Neutral Bay and Waverton, but have a completely open mind.

We are both in our mid 20s and both enjoy Mountain Biking and I love football (soccer). Can anyone recommend any areas / agencies to use in northern Sydney?

Also I have been told that the areas north of Hornsby are good for Mountain Biking, is this true and how easy is it to access using trains?

I dont know much about MTB places. But there are outdoor clubs that may be worth your while joining.

2 that I have looked at (though not joined yet) are the UTS and Sydney uni outdoors clubs. They do lots of activities.

The area just north of Hornsby is great for mountain bike riding but don't live near there. It's where families or older people live and you would be bored out of your brain.

I've lived in Neutral Bay and it's a great location with excellent public transport - in the way of buses. There are loads of apartments in Neutral Bay, it's a safe area, some have very good harbour views. There is a very good shopping area too. People who live in the eastern suburbs think it's boring, and while it may be compared to the eastern suburbs, it's also quieter and will come in handy if your company will be in northern sydney.

You may want to check out Kirribilli too because it's on the train line and has a station at Milsons Point. Waverton is a good area but is fairly quiet.

Hey Steve,

I would appreciate some feedback as to how you get on. I am moving in January and also am looking for pointers.

Cheers
