Rose Bay is another exclusive suburb in Sydney’s fashionable east. Cheap temporary accommodation 2007/09/27 01:02 Karma: 0
Hello. Newbie here. Luv the site BTW. Already read through all the suburbs summary. Very informative. I think I know more about Sydney suburbs than Perth, where I am based now

I am moving to Sydney in early January. For the first month or so I need suggestions for CHEAP temporary accommodation. I checked a few of the so-called budget serviced apartments. They are ~ 140 / night, which is not that cheap. Backpackers single rooms are probably closer to my budget of under 100 / night, but they can be noisy, and I will be working.

The place should be near the CBD or near transport that has easy commute to CBD.

I work as a computer programmer, so there's a chance of working in the Ryde area as well. Some cheap accommodation suggestions for that area would be great too.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Glad you like the website.

Hotel accommodation in Sydney, or any short term accommodation for that matter, is not cheap.

I understand your reservations about backpacker places. But you may want to consider the YHA at Central Station.

You could try the YWCA. Their website is http://www.yhotel.com.au/ They offer backpacker type accommodation and single rooms. The City South Y is in a noisey spot, so I'd go for the Hyde Park one.

Or you can try Unilodge. They usually charge $130 a night but have cheaper rates for longer term bookings. It's in a very convenient location with plenty of shops and transport literally at the door.

I'm not sure about budget accommodation in Ryde.

Enjoy the move. You'll like Sydney. There is always so much to do.

Thanks for the reply. Except that gfrylives is a guy. LOL. I dun think the YWCA would take too kindly to me being there.

I did check the other one and they did not have single rooms on their site. So far Base backpackers at $89 per nite looks promising.

But anyone have more ideas, I would luv to hear from you.

Cheers.

I think the Y takes males and females, so you are not out of the race just yet.

Yhotel at $76 per nite single is the cheapest so far.

And it looks much better than a backpackers too.

Thanks again.
