Rose Bay

    Rose Bay, Sydney (east)

Vibe: Prepy

Location: Beach, Harbour

Rent: 2 br apartment: $320 - $850 pw

Rose Bay is another exclusive suburb in Sydney’s fashionable east. Large period or architect designed homes on large properties in tree lined streets, make Rose Bay one of the prettiest and most sought after suburbs. This place definitely has a private school feel about it. It has stunning harbour views, and a vibrant village feel on weekends. (More information below...)

Schools Maroubra area for Belgian children 2007/11/28 09:43 Karma: 0
Hi there,

We are a Belgian family, just heard informed we are being transferred to Sydney for 3 years. We are considering Maroubra to go and live. Can anybody recommend good primary and secondary schools in the area?

Our children are in International schools in Singapore for 5 years now. We are considering public primary schools for our boys (8, 6 and 2). Is Maroubra Bay or Maroubra Junction nice?
We also need a nice girls school that has both primary and secondary for our 11 year old daughter (Don't want to have to change her again after 1 year). Should we look for a private school?
I am put off by the "religious" apsects on private schools websites though! Any suggestions most welcome! Maybe elsewhere in Eastern Suburbs? Don't have much time! Thanks a lot!
Barbara

Hi Barbara,

There is a French speaking school in Maroubra. If you look under "suburbs" on this website and type in "Maroubra" you will find information on schools.

Otherwise if you want a good international school there is one in Ultimo. It's called the International Grammar School www.igssyd.nsw.edu.au/

Ultimo is in the city so it may not suit your living plans.

I don't know that much about Maroubra but I think the Bay area is nice.

Otherwise, you can look at the private schools in Rose Bay or Vaucluse or Double Bay. All are very nice, expensive areas with plenty of good private and public schools.

Again, you can find out more about those schools on this website.

Hi Babs,

Have you considered the lower north shore in Sydney? That includes suburbs such as Neutral Bay, Cremorne, Mosman. All three have very good public schools and good private schools. This website has profiled all three of those suburbs and has information on schools in the areas.

They are very safe, family oriented areas. There is a good beach at Balmoral, which is near Mosman, if you are keen to live near a beach. Otherwise, Neutral Bay and Cremorne are on the harbour with stunning views.

If you are keen to stay in the eastern suburbs, Randwick has plenty of schools and it too is a good family suburb. It's a lot more general middle class than the lower north shore - which has above average income earners.

Randwick is also close to Coogee beach which I think is one of the nicest beaches in Sydney.

Both are safe suburbs with very good public transport (buses only).
