Hello everybody,

I'm moving to Sydney with my family and I heard that it is a great city but that in some areas there are a number of burglaries and breaking in houses. What are the suburbs to avoid? What are the safest suburbs? (my budget: between 600/ 900 a week) My kids will go to school in Maroubra.

Most areas in Sydney are safe or very safe. It's only a small number of suburbs in the west and outer west that may be considered a problem.

If your kids are going to Maroubra, then you could live in Maroubra near the beach. Other good and safe areas not far from Maroubra are Coogee which has a beach and is hilly, Randwick which is about a 20minute walk from the beach and has plenty of shops, schools, hospitals and buses. Clovelly is very good for families because it is quieter. All of these areas are in your budget range.

I think the trick is to find an area that is not very far from the school.

Yeah, I agree with the above comment. You could also look at Bronte or Waverley which are in the same area and won't be too much of a drive from Maroubra.
