Hi everyone,
Just checked out a new place in Manly called The Sugar Lounge. It's on North Steyne above Henry Afrikas.
It's one of the best places I have been to for cocktails in all of Sydney. Apparently two of the barmen were poached from another bar, city side, with an excellent reputation for cocktails. A group of friends and I tried it out, after it came highly recommended.
This place also does really good food. We ordered five dishes and thought the prawn gyoza were the best. The tiger prawn salad was also very good.
If you go in a group of 5 or more, they will put you in a booth if there are any available.
Manly isn't exactly known for having high quality drinking or eating places, so the Sugar Lounge fills a big hole. They have a great drink with the word Cuba or Cubana in it. It has plenty of mint, apple and a bit of rum and it is delicious. The margaritas are good too, and there is a huge list of vodkas to choose from.
The crowd is late 20's onwards - early 40s.
And the best thing - great beach views from the blacony because the beach is just across the road.
