Rose Bay

    Rose Bay, Sydney (east)

Vibe: Prepy

Location: Beach, Harbour

Rent: 2 br apartment: $320 - $850 pw

Rose Bay is another exclusive suburb in Sydney’s fashionable east. Large period or architect designed homes on large properties in tree lined streets, make Rose Bay one of the prettiest and most sought after suburbs. This place definitely has a private school feel about it. It has stunning harbour views, and a vibrant village feel on weekends. (More information below...)

Went to Eastwood Garden Peking Restaurant last weekend.

I havent had Peking duck since (well I cant remember). Anyway, I went to the Eastwood Garden coz I found some good reviews online especially for its Peking duck.

The duck was pretty good. It came with 2 courses, crispy duck skin with pancakes and then for 2nd have choice of sang-choi-bow (fried duck meat in lettuce leaves) or fried noodles with duck meat.

The whole duck costs $40 and the 3 of us were plenty full after that. Other people have noted their steamed fish is pretty good too. Will try this next time.

The place is certainly popular, lots of people queuing to get in. We had reservations. The decor is OK, it looks modern and clean. The service is fair, given that they are so popular you are bound to feel like you are pushed a little to order your meal and finish it quick. But I think that is OK coz of the good value and popularity. Plus its so tasty that you'll finish it quick enough

Recommended for good value, authentic Chinese food.

I like the atmosphere of the main strip of Eastwood too. Its like a mini Chinatown. I am Australian Chinese BTW. I like going to ethnically concentrated places. I think you get a better feel for the culture that way.
