Rose Bay is another exclusive suburb in Sydney’s fashionable east. Hey, I love hiking. Can anyone recommend some good places that are easy to get to?

Or is there a guidebook that I can buy which points out the better walks in and around Sydney?

Hi George, there are lots of good hiking places in Sydney. Many involve the harbour. Have you thought of trying any of the hikes suggested in Top 21 on this website? I am a big fan of the Manly to Spit Bridge walk. It'll take you up to 3 hours one way. Or try the Zoo to Balmoral walk. The views are superb.

I highly recommend the Taronga Zoo to Balmoral walk. We did it on Saturday morning and it was sensational. There were very few people on the track which is such a nice change to the Bondi to Bronte walk.

It's about 1hour and 40 minutes at a relaxed pace and it takes you along the coast for most of the walk. The views were great. There's a cafe about the half way mark at Chowder Bay if you need a coffee or cake fix.

Hi Paddopete,

Glad you enjoyed the Taronga Zoo to Balmoral Beach walk.

It's one of my faves, and probably the best walk you can do along Sydney Harbour.

I know everyone goes on about the Bondi to Bronte walk and while I agree it is great, the crowds can be a bit distracting to the point of annoying sometimes. Where's the fly spray???

Which is what makes the Taronga to Balmoral walk so much more pleasant.

It's a great idea to start early so you can have most of the walk to yourself, snap away, and arrive at Balmoral in time for a tea or coffee.

Or, you can head back.

The next walk we are giving a test run is one of many in the Royal National Park. Standby for the feedback.

Hey - thanks for the recommendation on the Taronga Zoo walk. We did it today and loved it. We got an early start and practically had the entire walk to ourselves. We did stop off at the beachside cafe for a coffee, and the view. Very peaceful. It was hard to believe we were in a city of 4million people while we were on the walk.

Any word yet on the Royal National Park walk?
