Glenelg, Adelaide (6-10km)
Rent: house rentals range from medium to high
Vibe: holidays
Location: Beach, 5-10km from city centre
Glenelg is the best known beach suburb in Adelaide. It's got a busy shopping strip, good access to public transport, schools, eclectic architecture, and is a tourist draw card. It's the Bondi of Sydney but with fewer young people. During weekends and holidays this place gets packed with kids of all ages who head to the amusement park, while adults gravitate to the beach or one of the many cafes. Glenelg used to be a quieter place but development in the 1990s began transforming the suburb into what some locals think has become a rather ugly duckling. Just wanted to share a great organic cafe and supermarket which is popular with people with and without kids.
It's called About Life on Darling Street, next to the Sackville Hotel in Rozelle. This place is always busy on weekends but there is always room for kids.

Hi Sonny,
There was an article in the Sydney Morning Herald about About Life just the other day.
I've been there and love it. If I had a decent pay packet I would shop there ALL the time. I always walk out feeling like I've done myself some good by shopping there.
