There are two companies in Sydney that will check cars for you before you buy them. Both provide a mobile service and do weekend inspections.

Most mechanics will also do a pre-purchase car inspection for you and charge substantially less.

But the downside is you have to take it to the mechanic which can be time consuming if you don't have time to waste or spare.

The BP in North Manly on Pittwater Rd also does pre purchase inspections. The NRMA recommends people use them. Their number is 9905 3578.
