Its a hike but a good way to get to know one part of Sydney...start with a good strong cup of coffee at Bar Coluzzi 322 Victoria Street Darlinghurst, then you are ready to take on some serious shopping and site seeing! Head up Oxford Street, stop into all the boutiques and interesting shops, Australian Centre for Photography for a break. Then turn down into Queen Street Woolhara, first stop into Lisa Ho on the corner and grab something special. Head up to the first floor and visit Rex Irwin's Gallery for some good art...just keep going, lots to see, pick up something for the home at Orson & Blake and just keep exploring to you are exhausted! You'll love it...
Happy hunting.

Great tips. Also, check out the Green Park Hotel in Victoria St if you come back the same way you came. You might be ready for a nice cold beer or wine by then.

Check out William St in Paddington on you way to Queen St. It's the new "in" shopping street full of interesting and cool shops. It's off Oxford St where the Paddington Hotel is.
