Kensington
Kensington
Victorian architecture, a village feel and good cafes.

Kensington 3031

Kensington is one of the best places to live in Melbourne. There is a good community and village feel here, and great cafes  and barsthat come without the attitude you’d find in other inner city suburbs. Once a working class suburb that was all but ignored, Kensington has well and truly become one of the “in”  and good suburbs. And it's only 3 train stops from the city centre. Kensington has plenty of professionals, young families, gays, and people with a social conscience. There are still some old time working class folk, people on welfare, and recent migrants who live in public housing flats.

It has tree-lined streets and plenty of Victorian cottages that have been renovated. A large number of new townhouses have gone up in what were once Victoria’s largest cattle saleyards. This original blue stone pavers have been kept, lending the area the feel of a bygone era.
