HOT SPOTS in Potts Point, Sydney


Potts Point has plenty of great cafes and restaurants. Here are some suggestions.



Aperitif - 7 Kellet St has a mix of French, Moroccan and Meditteranean food and an all European wine list.

Arun Thai - on MacLeay St, opposite Rockwall Cres for its friendly service, and most authentic Nonya (Royal) Thai cuisine in Australia. It also has a tapas bar and an amazing wine list.

Bayswater Brasserie - 32 Bayswater Rd, Kings Cross. This is a Sydney institution offering great food and atmosphere. But it is also the place where people who like a good drink like to hang out. DJ and dancing on Friday and Saturday nights.

Black Bull Butchery - 50 – 58 Macleay St offers a large assortment of sausages, crocodile, emu, oven-ready meals and their own brand of spice rubs.

Croissant D’Or - 117 Macleay St has been around for years and always has interesting, mouth watering cakes on display.


Doma Bohemian Beer Café - 29 Orwell St for its great choice of beers and Czech style meat dishes.

Dov at Delectica - 130 Victoria St serves inspirational breakfasts and hearty lunches. $10 dinners from Wednesday to Saturday.

Fratelli Paradiso - 12 – 16 Challis Ave for its modern Italian vibe. Great bakery, breads and café serving good Italian food and wine. Smoking on outside tables only.


Ginseng Bathhouse – Crest Hotel, 111 Darlinghurst Rd Kings Cross. It’s a Korean style bathhouse with spas and saunas. It offers facials, exfoliation and massage treatments and rest areas. Separate men’s and women’s facilities. Ph (02) 9356 6680

Hugo’s Bar Pizza - 19 Bayswater Rd, Kings Cross. Designer pizza for those with discerning taste buds.

Hugo’s Lounge - Level 1, 33 Bayswater Rd, Kings Cross is a popular sport for drinks.

Jimmy Liks - 188 Victoria St has communal tables, cocktails with an Asian twist, great Asian food.

La Buvette - 35 Challis Ave for its great breakfast and coffee. Hangovers can be cured with a Bloody Mary.

Lotus Bar and Bistro - 22 Challis Ave is very popular with the trendy young crowd. Great bar staff and the menu in the bistro is seasonally driven.

Macleay St Bistro - 73 Macleay St for its cosy and buzzy atmosphere.

Mezzaluna - 123 Victoria St has a cosy bar, good Italian food, superb city views.

Nest - 165 Victoria St has a sunny courtyard and is great for breakfast and lunch.

Thai Power - 146 Victoria St - for its inexpensive, delicious and fresh Thai food. Popular with backpackers.

Toby's Estate - cnr Manning St and Macleay St does great coffee and tea, including an organic house blend latte.

The Deli - 65 Macleay St stocks gourmet food including cheeses, breads, meat from AC Butchery. A foodie favourite.

Uliveto - 33 Bayswater Rd, Kings Cross where the hip young things snack during the day. Great for breakfasts and with a bit of luck, you might be able to get sunny spot in the courtyard.

Yellow Deli - 57 – 59 McLeay St (near Challis Ave) for its gourmet sandwiches, groceries, really good teas and Lorraine Godsmark’s cakes.
