Manly is very popular on weekends with all sorts coming to enjoy the outdoors. It's got good fish and chips, fishing, canoeing, bike riding, markets, and swimming. There's a sea water wading pool for little kids.

In recent years, the suburb has undergone plenty of redevelopment, and population growth.

Wynnum is nearby and the two suburbs are often referred to as Wynnum-Manly. The Wynnum Hospital services the area.
