An upper middle class family suburb with plenty of shops, houses, parks and good schools
Camberwell, Melbourne (east)
If you love loafers then pack your bags and move into Camberwell. This wealthy, middle class Melbourne suburb is soooooooooo comfortable. You'd be hard pressed to find a pauper here. Instead, it's more the sort of place to appeal to the well educated professional with kids in private schools. And to mums who like to do lunch. And maybe a movie star? Maybe Geoffrey Rush? (More information below and to your left <<<)
Camberwell has street after street of great Victorian and Federation architecture. Some streets are stunning and would require seriously big bank balances if you were ever fortunate enough to buy a property there.
The shopping village is very well equipped with a huge variety of shops, cafes and two markets - a fresh food market and a flea market. Public transport is very good with trams and trains.
There are plenty of schools within Camberwell or nearby.
Parking can be hard around Burke Rd. Shoe equivalent - surprise! It's a loafer!! Would suit: families, executives, professionals, couples. Location: parks. Distance from city centre: 12km. Direction: East
