A middle class suburb with plenty of open space and nice homes.
Duncraig, Perth (north west)
Duncraig is a respectable suburb filled with prim parks, tidy blocks and sports facilities galore. It’s about 16km north west of Perth’s city centre and is popular with middle and upper middle class families living the typical law abiding suburban life. Property in southern Duncraig and in the Carine Glades Estate near Carine Lakes range from expensive to out of this world expensive.
Most of the suburb was built in the mid-1970s when greater thought was given to town planning. Duncraig has a good choice of schools, all with respectable reputations. Travelling to and from and around the suburb is easy with the several bus routes running between Warwick, Stirling and Greenwood Train Stations.
There are a number of shopping villages in the area and most people go to either Glengarry or Carine Glades, with both offering taverns.
Duncraig has a well patronised library, and the Glengarry Private Hospital. Sports fans are well catered for too with the Percy Doyle Reserve a recreation centre and a multipurpose sports complex. Locals have access to a number of football fields and soccer pitches, lawn bowl greens and more than 20 tennis courts. There’s also the huge Carine Regional Open Space just down the road from Duncraig, which is made up of two large swamps, a football field, a soccer pitch, skate park and playgrounds.
There are plenty of groups and organisations for adults and children to get involved in. Become a member of the library, get the kiddies involved in either Gumnuts, Brownies, Guides or Scouts Australia, or play in the Sorrento-Duncraig football team.
So, if your ideal day involves seeing the children off to school, attending your gym class, then a coffee date before having to pick the kids up from school and taking them to footy, the Duncraig lifestyle has your name written on its letterbox.
