Jandakot
A new suburb south of Perth with affordable housing and perfect for families.
Jandakot, Perth (south)
Jandakot is a new and growing suburb in Perth’s south. It’s a peaceful place with plenty of open spaces, parks, playgrounds, and quiet streets. It’s ideal for growing families, and empty nesters whose kids have flown the coup and are now hanging out for serenity. Jandakot is known for two things: a small, busy airport and golf!
While there are a small number of older style houses in Jandakot, most of the dwellings here are predominantly new, and are grouped into estates. Glen Iris estate is the biggest and surrounds a public golf course. So, if you don’t mind the odd golf ball in your backyard, this is the place for you! BTW the golf club has a decent pub and restaurant offering Sunday dinner for the family. Jandakot also has Spudshed! – a supermarket that sells vegies and fruit that come directly from farmers. There’s a little shopping area for the essentials at the Glen Iris Shopping Centre, which includes a Chinese takeaway and a deli. But for a bigger shop, head to the Gateways Shopping Centre which is a 5-minute drive away.
As for transport, you will definitely need a car.If you rely solely on public transport to get around, you’d start losing the plot or your temper. Cockburn Central train station is the nearest station - a mere 3 km walk along the freeway.!!
With The Fiona Stanley Hospital due to be completed in 2014 in nearby Murdoch, this area is expected to see a boom in the population.
