Mundaring, Perth (hills, east)

Mundaring is a friendly, easy going place in the Perth hills. It’s a buzzing town 20 minutes east from Midland (a shopping and transport hub), and about a 40 minute drive east of Perth. Despite its distance from Perth, Mundaring is by no means isolated. It has the delightfully old-fashioned Mundaring village, with its good choice of supermarkets and other retail shops. The Mundaring village also has an efficient medical practice and chemist, a travel agent and podiatrist, cafes and bakeries. It is a humble but satisfying home perfect for young families with plenty of schools. Children can find plenty to occupy themselves with, whether it be playing in the nearby public swimming pools, cycling, using the playgrounds or, on rainy days, taking advantage of hills’ good internet connection. It is also a quiet retreat for the elderly. The nearby and popular Hub of the Hills regularly hosts festivities and custom-tailored parties, including lawn bowls and 50s nights.

While Mundaring is primarily residential with larger houses on big blocks with plenty of trees, it does have an industrial zone, which is convenient for dealing with car issues or house upgrades. It is surrounded by national parks and reserves providing plenty of opportunity to see kangaroos, kookaburras, lizards, wildflowers and the increasingly rare Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo.

The crime rate is low and most people are comfortable strolling at night.
