Subiaco
Subiaco
A cosmopolitan inner city suburb with a great cafe culture and huge price tags.

Subiaco, Perth (inner west)

Another glass of champagne? Subiaco is just 3km west of Perth’s city centre, and is oh so chic. It’s cosmopolitan and the designer clothes and gourmet food centre of Perth. The shopping is chi chi, and there are plenty of cafes restaurants, bars and nightclubs to choose from. And who would have thought that Subiaco started out as a working class suburb? In more recent times, Subiaco has been gentrified appealing to those who like inner city living, pretty tree-lined streets and being fairly close to the beach.

The public schools here are good, and so is the public transport. Subiaco is on a train line just three stops from Perth’s city centre. There are plenty of parks and open spaces. The architecture is a mixture of renovated period homes, large modern houses, and apartments. The local primary school hosts a weekly farmer’s market. There’s also the Subiaco Pavillion Market on Rockeby Rd. Every year there’s the Subiaco Street Festival. This place is also home to the Subiaco Oval where the West Coast Eagles Aussie Rules footy team train and play. And if music and culture are more your thing, head to the Regal Theatre in Hay St.

This is one clean and very safe place to live. To be able to afford to live here, well, you gotta have the big bucks. So, if you do move to “Subi” as the locals call it, congratulations. Pour yourself a drink.
