Burwood
Burwood
Federation homes, picturesque streets and large Italian, Greek, Korean and Chinese communities

Burwood, Sydney (inner west)

Burwood is an easy going friendly, family and student type suburb. It has a very appealing central shopping district with plenty of cafes, Asian restaurants and a Westfield shopping centre. Here you will find everyday people getting on with things in a pleasant, clean, unpretentious and relaxed environment. New apartment blocks have sprung up around the shopping area, mixing in with large Federation homes. (More information below and to your left <<<)

If this suburb were a shoe, it would be a Nine West and a brown work shoe

Many of the streets are  tree-lined. The Appian Way is a street with some of the best examples of Federation homes in Sydney.

In more recent years, couples and professionals have been moving in to Burwood; and it's popular with University of Sydney students. Singles would generally find this place a bit too far out from the city centre. An express train from Burwood to Central Station is 10 minutes.

Almost half of Burwood's population was born overseas with Italians, Greeks, Koreans and Lebanese among the most prevalent.

Parking is usually no problem. The vibe: welcoming with an enviable diversity in cuisine. Shoe equivalent: brown work shoes, Nine West. Would suit: ages 28+, families, quieter professional types, students. Location: parks. Distance: 12 km from the city centre. Direction: West.
