Many of the streets are tree-lined. The Appian Way is a street with some of the best examples of Federation homes in Sydney.
In more recent years, couples and professionals have been moving in to Burwood; and it's popular with University of Sydney students. Singles would generally find this place a bit too far out from the city centre. An express train from Burwood to Central Station is 10 minutes.
Almost half of Burwood's population was born overseas with Italians, Greeks, Koreans and Lebanese among the most prevalent.
