Elizabeth Bay
Elizabeth Bay
Art Deco architecture and a haven for the uber creative.

Elizabeth Bay, Sydney (east)

Elizabeth Bay is a magnet for the creative types with decent pay packets who like the cosmopolitan nature of the suburb, and its proximity to the city centre. It has a very high concentration of people living in a small space and tends to attract people with a more progressive bent towards life. There are plenty of Art Deco apartments here and streets with harbour views. (More info below and to your left <<<)

If this suburb were a shoe, it would be Birkenstocks and black work shoe

Elizabeth Bay is walking distance from the city, the harbour, Opera House, Botanic Gardens, Potts Point and several other vibrant suburbs in Sydney’s east.

In the last few years the suburb has gone through a gentrification process. Housing is overwhelmingly in apartment blocks, many of which were built in the 1920's - 1940's.  As an added bonus, most of the streets are tree lined, and many apartments offer great water views.

Depending on where you live in Elizabeth Bay, running into homeless people asking for money may, or may not, be a problem. The café scene here is small.

Parking is usually hard, so good luck in finding a spot. The vibe is relaxed, casual and quieter than Potts Point. Shoe equivalent: Birkenstocks, and black work shoes. Would suit: ages 30+, creative types who like the variety of inner city living, singles, young families, empty nesters, professionals, gays, and the arty set. Location: Harbour. Postcode: 2011. Distance: 2.5km from the city centre. Direction: East.
