Parramatta is the business and retail hub of western Sydney. Sure, it’s a fair way out from the city centre (about an hour by car, less via the motorway), but Parramatta has great ethnic diversity; a good arts scene; a vibrant café strip; plenty of heritage; the picturesque Parramatta River; and a pleasant, large shopping district. This is where cosmetics giant Napoleon Perdis was born into a migrant Greek family. (More info below and to your left <<<)

Parramatta is a very down to earth place with relatively cheap rent compared to Sydney's inner suburbs. The suburb is huge and has plenty of schools; a university campus; hotels; tree-lined streets; and is just over an hour to the Blue Mountains.
Two of Australia's oldest buildings can be found in Parramatta - Old Government House and the Governor's Dairy. Parramatta was home to Australia's first farm, first orchard, first vineyard, first steam mill and first market place and fair. So, history abounds here.
