Once an industrial zone bereft of almost any residential life, Pyrmont has become a high-rise apartment mecca with an emerging village hub. Some old warehouses have been converted into apartments, but generally most of the buildings are new modern townhouses or multi-storey residential blocks. Pyrmont is so close to the city centre, walking will take 5 - 10 mins via a footbridge over Darling Harbour.

Pyrmont hosts one of Sydney’s best farmers’ markets - The Good Living Farmers' Market - held on the first Saturday of every month in Pyrmont Bay Park.
Every year it also has the Pyrmont Art Festival. This year it will be held on Saturday May 2 in Union Square.
