Sunbury
Sunbury
An outer semi-rural suburb popular with families.

Sunbury, Melbourne (north west)

Sunbury has come a long way in the last 10 years. Where once it lacked any decent entertainment or sports facilities, it now has plenty to offer. It is a semi-rural place with a country town feel, just 40minutes drive from the city. It's not for party types, but if you have a family and want an affordable home in a safe environment, Sunbury is a decent choice. (More info below...)

Vibe:

Semi rural

Nine West, gumboot

Sunbury used to have a slightly rough reputation but that is now gone. It's certainly not the richest part of Melbourne, but it is on the edge of the Macedon ranges, one of the most beautiful parts of Victoria, which gives Sunbury a leg-up.

There are plenty of trees in the area which add to the rural vibe. Housing in Sunbury has been booming but most of these new developments lack greenery. So, so if you want something a little more established, try finding a house very close to the city centre, or just out of town off Riddell Rd, where there are plenty of smaller brick homes surrounded by trees.

Because this if family territory, there are plenty of schools.

To live here you need a car. There is a train station, but country train services to the centre of Melbourne aren't that frequent especially outside peak hours.

Parking is not a problem. The vibe: semi-rural suburbia. Shoe equivalent: Nine West, gumboot. Would suit: families. Location: 41km from the city centre. Diretion: North West.
