Family friendly suburbs with a relaxed country town feel
Chelmer/Graceville, Brisbane (6-10km)
Yahoooooo! Graceville and neighbouring Chelmer are total winners. This is a stunning part of Brisbane. The suburbs are surrounded by the winding Brisbane River, have fab Queenslander and post war timber homes, big blocks of land, leafy streets, a couple of good but small village shopping centres, a cinema, and a bit of a laid back country town feel. Both suburbs are self-contained, appealing and not stuck up. If you come here and it doesn't do it for you, you haven't gotten over inner city living yet. (More info below and to your left <<<)

If this suburb were a shoe, it would be a Colorado and Birkenstocks
Chelmer is home to one of Brisbane's most beautiful streets, Laurel St, which has plenty of camphor laurel trees. The Graceville Uniting Church is a local landmark - on the corner of Verney Rd East and Oxley Rd.
This is a very safe suburb, with plenty of renovated Queenslanders, some interesting riverside properties, and some hippy herbal types.
