A picturesque suburb popular with families and childless couples.
Camp Hill, Brisbane (6-10km south east)
Camp Hill is pleasantville - middle class family, and couples territory. Here you will find street after street of well kept Queenslander and timber houses. It's hardly party or excitement central. Instead it's a quiet and safe neighbourhood with happy children, good views and hilly landscapes. There's a great cafe precinct tucked away in Martha St - good for dinner or weekend breakfast. If this suburb were a shoe, it would be a Colorado
Once upon a time Camp Hill had a huge rubbish tip. Now that tip is known as Whites Hill Reserve and comes with a sports field, walking paths and native vegetation. Camp Hill has a history as a resting place for travellers, farmland and was the base for a UN naval hospital during WW2.
There's a good local shopping centre called Samuel Village Shopping Centre on the corner of Boundary and Samuel streets. And there are a few shops on the very noisey Old Cleveland Rd.
Architecturally, it's mostly freestanding homes with a sprinkling of apartments.
